Gustavsberg Ironstone Kitchen Board

6" x  10.5"

Sweden, early 20th century (c. 1900–1920)

A beautifully molded ironstone kitchen board by Gustavsberg, the historic Swedish ceramic house known for its durable utilitarian wares. The slab is pressed in a fluted, scalloped form with a pierced hanging aperture framed by a radiating sunburst motif. The underside carries a partial GUSTAVSBERG stamp along with a small impressed bird symbol and a mould number, all characteristic of the workshop’s early 20th-century production.

Originally used as a small kitchen or dairy board—often for cheese, charcuterie, or rinsing and drying produce—the piece now serves equally well as a sculptural accent or functional serving element. The cool white glaze, substantial weight, and crisp detailing are typical of Gustavsberg’s ironstone from this period.

Condition
Excellent antique condition with minor surface wear consistent with use. One small glaze nibble at the edge, clearly shown. No cracks or structural issues; molded detail remains sharp.
