Vintage  French Jacquard Torchon (Linen Blend)

Measures approximately 26.5” x 22”

A beautiful mid-century French torchon in a woven geometric jacquard with vibrant red and teal stripes. The texture is crisp, the colors are bright, and it still has its original hanging loop. Circa 1950s–1960s. Linen–cotton blend (cotton warp with a pure-linen weft, as noted on the original label). Excellent unused vintage condition. 

Styling

Lovely draped over an oven door, folded in a basket, or layered with other torchons for a classic French kitchen look. Also perfect as a small table accent under a breadboard or pitcher.

Context

These post-war French torchons often combined the strength of cotton with the absorbency and durability of linen. The geometric jacquard pattern reflects the mid-century shift toward more modern motifs while retaining traditional French stripe colors.
