Antique 18th-Century Hand-Colored Botanical Engraving | Weinmann Phytanthoza Iconographia, c. 1737–1745

Gravure Botanique — Sideritis Spicata Foetida

16.5" × 12.5" framed

A hand-colored copperplate botanical engraving, 18th century, c. 1737–1745, likely from Weinmann's Phytanthoza Iconographia — Fig. 241. Hand-colored on laid paper with ribbon banderoles naming the plant in Latin nomenclature. The vignette is exceptional: an elaborate Mediterranean landscape with Roman ruins, an arched gateway, figures, and a waterside scene — the kind of learned decorative context that distinguishes Weinmann's plates from purely scientific illustration. Professionally presented by Atelier Chantal Larrivé, 75016 Paris — sage green and mauve double mat with gold leaf frame. Ready to hang.

Hang alone as a focal point or in a symmetrical botanical grouping. The sage and mauve mat reads well against plaster, linen, and aged wood. Professional Parisian presentation — arrives ready to install.
