Sarreguemines faïence, transfer-printed in blue, in the Juliana pattern.

A soup plate with a deep, coupe well, bordered in cross-hatched ribbon bows, floral swags built from small dotted florets, and rosette medallions spaced singly between each swag, the whole band traced along both edges with a fine beaded line. Marked on the reverse Juliana, U&C, Sarreguemines.

Age appropriate wear from use, sold as found.

Historical Context
U&C stands for Utzschneider & Cie, the founding family name used on Sarreguemines marks, placing this in the pre-1920s production window before the factory changed hands. The bow-and-swag border with rosette paterae is a classic neoclassical device, established by the late 18th century and popular again across Belle Époque faïence.
