Antique Limoges Bistro Plate / Absinthe Coaster
Limoges, France, early 20th century
A small Limoges café plate with a classic green bistro rim, produced for commercial service in the early 20th century. Pieces of this size and form were widely used in cafés and brasseries as multipurpose utility dishes—often functioning as absinthe coasters, stabilizing the glass and collecting drips during preparation, as well as for small servings and garnishes.
This example bears the Limoges mark on the reverse and shows the soft, authentic wear associated with true café use: rim abrasion, subtle toning, and light surface marks.
A charming and versatile piece of French café culture, ideal for bedside use, jewelry, soaps, or for layering in tabletop styling.
