Trio Of Antique Green Transfer Ribbon Faience
Antique French Longchamp “Sapho” trio, c. 1895–1910.
This creamy faïence fine in a coordinated set including one dinner plate (9 3/16"), one salad plate (9 3/16"), and one bowl (9"). Green transfer-printed Louis XVI revival borders with ribbon-tied torches and botanical swags.
For styling, this set creates an instant layered place setting for display or use and mixes cleanly with white ironstone, green transferware, and simple glassware. Works well stacked on open shelving, styled in a cabinet, or used as a single setting on a table or sideboard.
The “Sapho” pattern reflects the late-19th-century return to neoclassical decorative vocabulary in France, when ribbons, torches, and garlanded foliage reappeared across everyday tableware. Earlier Longchamp production often appears without printed factory marks, and the glaze tone and crazing are typical of this period."
Expected age-related crazing and light utensil wear; no major flaws noted. Transfer is imperfect as was typical of the time period
