Antique French green transferware platter

Sale price$118.00

French terre de fer platter by Onnaing in the “Chamonix” pattern. Green transferware border with floral and foliate motifs and a beaded edge. Minor marks and wear consistent with age. Marked Chamonix – Onnaing (Nord), dating to circa 1890–1910.

Measures 13.75" x 10.5"

Styling
A classic French serving piece for the table; the neutral green pairs well with white ironstone, faïence, and mixed transferware. Beautiful on an easel on open shelving, and it also hangs well on a wall, either on its own or mixed with other plates.

Historical Context
Onnaing, located in northern France, produced terre de fer from the late 19th to early 20th century. Patterns like “Chamonix” reflect the era’s detailed transferware designs and were commonly used in French households.
