French faïence imprimée, transfer-printed in dark green on a ground gone warm with age, undecorated in the well.

Decorated with hanging lambrequin forms and floral sprays around the rim, over a lower band of diamond lattice with dot and rosette accents, two stacked registers rather than one continuous motif.

Overall discoloration to the ground consistent with age, sold as found.

Historical Context
Lambrequin is the standard French decorative-arts term for a hanging, scalloped drapery motif, borrowed from actual curtain valances and pelmets. It appears across French faience going back to Rouen's lambrequin wares, and this piece belongs to the same decorative tradition, produced in the Saint-Amand region.
