Petite French trinket box with ornate gilt metal framing and richly marbled faux tortoiseshell panels. The lid features a raised laurel wreath with delicate floral detailing, and each side is framed by arched garlands and neoclassical motifs. Hinged lid with a painted metal interior. Marked Made in France along the edge. Measures approximately 3.5” x 3” x 1.5”.
A beautiful accent for a vanity or desk, perfectly sized for jewelry, stamps, or small keepsakes. Its warm marbled tones and classical ornament pair beautifully with gilt frames, perfume bottles, or aged books for an elegant coin de beauté display.
Dating to the early 20th century, this French box reflects the Louis XVI Revival style popular during the Belle Époque and into the 1920s. Faux tortoiseshell celluloid offered an affordable yet luxurious alternative to natural shell, while ornate gilt spelter detailing gave even small household objects the refined air of Parisian craftsmanship.
