Antique St Uze Creamer
St Uze French Blue & White Miniature Pitcher/creamer
19th century
Dimensions: approximately 3.75" H × 4" W (including handle)
French ceramics have a long tradition of producing both functional and decorative wares, with regions such as St.-Uze in the Drôme department known for everyday earthenware made for domestic use and export. Small pitchers like this were commonly used as creamers or milk jugs for tea and coffee service.
This example features a soft blue floral motif on a warm ivory ground. The surface displays pronounced glaze crazing—an expected and desirable sign of age resulting from historic firing and glazing techniques rather than damage. Its petite scale and well-balanced form make it equally suitable for use, display, or layering in a collection of French kitchen ceramics.
