Antique Gilded Bronze Frame
An exceptional antique French frame with original convex glass and an ornate ribbon top crowned with cascading floral garlands. Cast in gilded bronze, the frame has developed a rich, aged patina that highlights the finely detailed casting. The original loop at the back allows for easy hanging.
8.5” tall including ribbon; Approx. 5.25” x 3.75” across the framed portion; Photo opening approx. 3.25” x 4.625”
Style it layered into a gallery wall, hung above a nightstand, resting atop a mirror or book stack, or alone on a smaller wall.
Likely dating to the early 20th century, this frame reflects the neoclassical revival period, when French makers drew inspiration from the Louis XVI style—favoring bows, garlands, and symmetry. The ribbon and garland motifs, often associated with love, celebration, and honor, were commonly used to adorn personal keepsakes and romantic mementos. Harder and harder to find in this condition, especially with the original glass and back fully intact, this is a true collector’s piece.
