Antique French Oil on Panel, Floral Still Life | Monogrammed, Late 19th–Early 20th Century
Huile sur Panneau — Bouquet de Fleurs
12" × 8.75"
A French school oil on panel — bouquet de fleurs — late 19th to early 20th century. White narcissus, pink roses, and lilac are arranged in a grey ceramic vase against a dark atmospheric ground, painted with confident loaded brushwork in the Impressionist tradition. The preliminary underdrawing is visible through the thin paint layer in areas — evidence of a painter working with intention, mapping the composition before committing to paint. Monogrammed lower right (C J or G — not yet fully identified). A horizontal batten on the verso stabilizes the panel. Sold unframed.
Float-frame in a natural or gilded wood frame to let the dark ground breathe. Hang alone or as part of a collected group. The palette — cream, blush, dusty lilac against dark grey — works in almost any room.
