Antique French Lunéville Faïence Cake Plate with Tulipe and Rococo Bouquet
A French faïence footed cake plate (compotier) from the Keller et Guérin manufactory in Lunéville, with a striking pink tulipe at center surrounded by a scattered Strasbourg-style bouquet of roses, yellow florets, and small violet buds across the cavetto. The painting is fresh and confident, the tulip a more graphic figure than the looser rococo arrangements on the other two cake plates from this series. Scalloped rim with the signature red feathering and blue and yellow trim lines. The ceramic itself is molded with fluted panels following the scalloped rim, and the pedestal foot is embossed with low-relief shell and feather motifs that the painter then picked out in red, a hand-finished detail characteristic of K&G work of this period.
Condition: The cleanest of the three. Even surface, glaze crazing only visible at close inspection, no chips or losses to the foot or rim, decoration vivid and undimmed. Dimensions: 9.25 × 4.5 in.
