Antique Parisian French Ironstone Platter

Sale price$128.00

Antique French Ironstone Platter – Cie Franco Anglaise, Paris
Transferware | Rue de Turbigo, Paris | c. 1880–1900
14″ × 11¼″

Description:
A large antique ironstone serving platter made in Paris by the Compagnie Franco Anglaise, a cross channel ceramics manufacturer with a showroom at 18 Rue de Turbigo. The border features a rhythmic floral garland rendered in deep slate blue transferwork, lush and balanced, with a quiet formality that recalls French neoclassical textiles.

The body is a soft ivory white with warm undertones and prominent crazing throughout, giving the piece a beautifully aged surface. The back bears a distinctive ribbon style maker’s mark with the address in Paris, as well as an incised model number.

This generous oval platter was likely part of a larger dinner service in the late 19th century made for presentation and built to last. Elegant and grounded in utility, it’s a quintessential example of everyday French ceramics at the turn of the century.
