Antique Carved Green & Gilt Mirror with Bow Crest
Carved Green & Gilt Mirror with Bow Crest
19th century
25” H x 14.5” W
A beautifully carved 19th-century mirror in soft green and gilt, featuring a neoclassical-inspired crest with floral rosettes, draped ribbons, and a stylized plume. Hand-carved entirely from wood, this piece combines classical form with a rustic, painterly charm that reflects the decorative traditions of southern France.
The green-painted frame is accented with parcel gilding, creating a soft contrast that’s both elegant and quietly whimsical. With its narrower silhouette and architectural balance, this mirror works beautifully in a powder room, above a console, or as part of a layered gallery wall. Includes original mirror.
Condition:
Surface wear, paint and gilt loss, and scattered age-related cracks — all consistent with its 19th-century age and adding to its authentic character. Mirror glass shows some foxing.
