1914 French Agricultural Merit Plaque – République Française

A striking early 20th-century French table medal plaque issued by the Ministry of Agriculture in honor of agricultural service. Cast in heavy metal with a silvered finish and mounted on its original easel stand, the piece features a classical profile of Marianne—national symbol of the French Republic—crowned in laurel and framed by oak leaves and acanthus. Below, a bronze-toned nameplate reads:

“Ministère de l’Agriculture à Mr. Pujolras, Chevalier du Mérite Agricole, Décret du 31 Mars 1914.”

Awarded just months before the outbreak of WWI, this plaque marks the recipient’s appointment as Chevalier du Mérite Agricole, a distinguished national honor for contributions to French agriculture. A rare and beautifully detailed example of Republican iconography from an historically significant time period.

Condition: Light age-related patina and wear consistent with age; original stand intact and functional.
